Triarchy Role Tier List (Pre-Release)

Theorycraft tiers for support, damage, and flex roles based on announced co-op design—not live meta.

Role Tier List

Important: Triarchy has not launched on Steam. Digital Confectioners targets 2026, and balance numbers change between playtest weekends. This page is pre-release theorycraft about soft trinity roles—support, damage, and flex—derived from the press kit timeline, Steam feature list, and developer comments about holy-trinity-inspired co-op. It is not a datamined DPS chart and not a live PvE meta report.

Use it to start party conversations, then replace tiers with evidence after you play.

How to read these tiers

Tiers rank role buckets by how reliably they fill co-op needs in a three-player crew, assuming intentional melee combat, talent tree progression, and crafted gear:

  • S — Strong default pick for most crews pre-release; covers a gap others struggle to fill.
  • A — Excellent when paired with complementary teammates; minor gaps only.
  • B — Viable with communication and assist tuning; weaker if duplicated across the whole party.
  • C — Niche or unproven until we see final talent costs and boss tuning.

Roles are soft: you express them through talent tree nodes and weapon pairings, not a class select screen.

Support role — Tier: S (pre-release)

Why it sits high: Official ability copy repeatedly mentions supporting allies alongside damage talents. Boss marketing stresses multi-phase arenas, positioning, and teamwork—systems that historically reward players who stabilize uptime when others whiff parries or drain stamina.

Expected responsibilities:

  • Cover stamina or survivability gaps when enemy scaling spikes in trio fights.
  • Provide utility during telegraphs without requiring perfect DPS uptime.
  • Complement assist settings so mixed-skill friends can keep up without forcing global difficulty down.

Risks pre-release: If support nodes over-invest in aura-style bonuses that do not affect solo sailors, flex players may ignore them. Final tree tuning could move support to A if self-sustain is mandatory.

Pair with: One dedicated damage sailor and one flex sailor who can pivot stagger or exploration.

Damage role — Tier: A (pre-release)

Why not S: Every crew needs damage, but Triarchy also advertises poise breaks, parries, and stamina management as equal pillars. A party of three pure damage builds may clear adds quickly yet struggle on Challenge Mode telegraphs described on the Bosses hub.

Expected responsibilities:

  • Primary poise break and stagger windows after team setups.
  • Stack on-hit effects from dual-wield pairs for sustained boss pressure.
  • Chase Challenge Mode rematches when material drops matter.

When it rises to S: Solo play and duo speed runs where scaling favors burst and support is covered by assists rather than talents.

Pair with: Support for uptime and flex for exploration splits during island loops.

Flex role — Tier: A (pre-release)

Why flex is essential: Drop-in co-op, no tethering, and shared progress mean roster size and skill mix change mid-campaign. Flex builds—hybrid talent paths, versatile weapon pairs, craftable medium armor—reduce friction when a third friend joins late or when only two sailors show up for a playtest window.

Expected responsibilities:

  • Bridge exploration and combat without full respec between sessions.
  • Adapt when hosts specialize differently across saves.
  • Use the Assist Planner to stay challenged without outpacing friends.

When it drops to B: If respec costs are cheap and weapon crafting is fast, dedicated roles may outperform generalists. We lack confirmed economy details.

What would invalidate this list

Any of the following would force a rewrite at launch:

  • Hard class selection added late in development.
  • Support talents nerfed to self-only effects in solo-tuned content.
  • Poise break moved mostly to ship upgrades or consumables.
  • Party size locked differently from the 1–3 player range on triarchygame.com.

Track those possibilities on Updates and re-test during Steam playtests using the Playtest Checklist.

Turning theorycraft into real tiers

After release, this page should evolve with:

  1. Time-to-stagger benchmarks on named bosses.
  2. Talent point efficiency math once respec costs are known.
  3. Craft bis weapons from Weapons and Dual-Wield tied to Challenge Mode drops.
  4. Assist-adjusted clear rates for mixed-skill crews from Co-op Hub.

Until then, treat Support as S, Damage and Flex as A, and prioritize party coverage over copying single-player soulslike habits.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers drawn from Steam playtests and official announcements.

Is this tier list official?

No. It is **fan wiki theorycraft** labeled pre-release. Digital Confectioners has not published a balance tier list.

Why is support ranked above damage?

Based on **design intent**: repeated marketing about helping allies and boss fights rewarding teamwork. Actual DPS numbers could invert this after launch.

Does flex mean weak?

Flex means **adaptable**, not inferior. For drop-in co-op and playtest scheduling, flex is often the most practical third slot.

Will you add weapon tier lists later?

Yes, after verifiable item data exists. This page focuses on **playstyle roles**, not individual swords or axes.

How should my trio use this page tonight?

Agree who runs support utilities, who owns stagger, and who flexes for exploration—then validate in a boss from Boss Overview and revise after the session.
